"Frances West was inspired to begin making kinetic mobiles after a year-long stay in Denmark. A combination of the long Scandinavian winter nights and seeing mobiles all around led her to start experimenting with balance. Her material of choice is felted wool balls imported from Nepal in an array of exquisite colors. Balance, proportion, & the subtle movement of the mobiles lead to improvisational alignments that ripple space like a John Coltrane solo. Watching their movement draws one in, encouraging contemplation, serenity and meditation.
