I began rug hooking in 2000. I woke up one day and decided I needed to learn to hook rugs. I may have this craft as a child growing up in England, but have no specific memory of it.

I found a book and kit and taught myself to hook; a challenge since I’m left-handed and the book was written for right-handers! Once I pulled the first loop I was “hooked.” After hooking on my own for a few years, I found a workshop and teachers where I could hone my skills.

My rugs have evolved over the years but I have noticed some constants. I generally use bright colors and I like to hook animals… not necessarily realistic ones. Seeing a rug come to life under my hook is something I never tire of.
