My aunt taught me to crochet when I was an 8 year old year. The passion for this creative outlet remains within me to this day for many reasons.
When I engage in the fiber art of crochet, I am creating something functional, beautiful and lasting but also participating in the historic tradition embodying the creative works of our ancestors. I enjoy encouraging future generations to do the same, teaching the importance of handmade treasures.
A lot of heart and soul are put forth into creating each piece, which takes many hours to complete. Anywhere from 15 hours for a shawl or poncho to 50 hours for a cozy, large blanket.
For most of my wearable pieces, I seek out natural fibers such as cotton or wool. For the practical purpose of durability and ease of care, I stitch larger items, such as blankets, with high-end premium acrylic which is soft, cozy and offers many beautiful colors.
Thank you for your interest and for keeping traditional hand-crafted art alive.
