Daniel is originally from Mexico and has lived in Floyd county for the past 20 years. A few years ago he started working with wood after he found burls that caught his eye out in nature. He started watching videos about carving, and soon after he started the process himself. He usually starts carving a piece without having any idea what will come out of it. He works along with the wood and always is surprised by the results. He is amazed by the beauty of the wood grain. Nature has already created the beauty, he just does his part to bring it to light. Daniel continues to create wood craft in his free time.

Daniel has shown his work at exhibits with the Floyd Center for the Arts, the Moss Art Center at Virginia Tech and the Floyd Hotel.
